The addition of 1 or 2 windows can make a big difference to the air quality inside the container, and provide excellent natural light, even when the doors are closed. They work really well with a PA door, and can have security bars or storm shutters fitted if required.

Most people are probably very aware that shipping containers (being a big metal box) can get unbearably hot in the warmer months.

To solve this problem, there are several solutions:

Place your shipping container home in the shade.

  1. Build a roof over the container to reflect the light.

  2. Paint the roof with a high RV paint, even if you have a roof.

  3. Insulate the internal walls with traditional insulation or spray foam.

  4. Build windows on all sides of the container home to catch the cross breeze.

  5. Install extractor fans.

  6. Put in air conditioning.
